State availability data shown above is current as of June 2026 and may change without notice. Check your rate to confirm the most accurate, up-to-date information for your state. Checking your rate uses a soft credit inquiry and won’t affect your credit score¹.
Is Cash LineTM available in your state?
Cash LineTM is a personal line of credit delivered through Upstart mobile App. It’s a newly launched product that’s actively expanding to more states: as of this writing it’s unavailable in 19 states plus Washington, D.C., though that list should shrink as rollout continues. Check the Cash LineTM app directly for current availability in your state.
Is the auto-secured personal loan option available in your state?
The auto-secured option for personal loan isn’t a separate product or a separate application. If you own a vehicle, Upstart’s personal loan application may offer you the option to use it as collateral. That option runs on its own state footprint, separate from the standard personal loan, and is currently unavailable in 10 states and D.C., including Colorado, Iowa, Maryland, Nevada, and New York, even where the personal loan itself is offered. It’s also different from auto loan refinancing, which is no longer available through Upstart.
Is a HELOC available in your state?
A HELOC through Upstart Home Lending is currently offered in 29 states and Washington, D.C., according to Upstart Mortgage’s eligibility page. If your state isn’t on that list, a HELOC isn’t available yet.
Is a Relief Loan available in your state?
A Relief Loan is Upstart’s smaller, hardship-focused product, built for people who need a modest amount of cash quickly. This loan product is unavailable in 14 states and Washington, D.C., including New York, Massachusetts, and Georgia.
Why isn’t Upstart available in West Virginia and Iowa?
Upstart is currently unavailable in West Virginia and Iowa due to state-specific lending regulations and partner bank licensing limits.
Lenders on Upstart’s platform have to be licensed to originate loans in each state. Currently, there is no participating lender on the Upstart platform licensed in the two states. If you live in those two states, you can check back later as we are working to expand access.
How to check your eligibility for loans through Upstart
The fastest way to find out where you stand is to start an application directly on Upstart.com or in the Upstart app. You’ll enter your state early in the process, since it’s one of the first checks the platform runs, and confirming your rate at that stage uses a soft credit inquiry that won’t affect your credit score¹.
What should I do if Upstart isn’t available in my state?
You can check back periodically, since state coverage can change, and use the time to strengthen your credit history, income documentation, and employment stability so you’re ready to apply the moment it opens up.
What factors Upstart’s underwriting model looks at
Beyond your location, Upstart’s underwriting model looks at more than 2,500 variables13, including credit history, current income, and employment status, to make a decision.
If you’re in an eligible state and want to strengthen your odds before applying, paying down revolving balances and avoiding new hard inquiries in the weeks beforehand tend to have the biggest impact.
If you’re in an excluded state, working on those same factors now means you’ll be in a stronger position the moment coverage opens up.
