About the role

As the partner acquisition lead, you will work closely with Upstart’s Business Development team to own and execute a strategy for bringing new banks and credit unions on to the PBU platform. You will oversee a wide range of marketing activities, from managing conferences and events with banking executives to building sales collateral and optimizing lead generation campaigns.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with CEO, CFO, Head of Growth, Head of Business Development, and Upstart co-founders to set and implement Upstart’s B2B acquisition strategy
  • Set annual, quarterly, and monthly targets and project roadmaps
  • Manage all client acquisition activities for our platform business
  • Build out lead generation campaigns including direct customer outreach and advertising
  • Help refine our product positioning and messaging
  • Develop our conference approach and manage conference sponsorships
  • Develop customer events and briefings to help drives prospects to closure

Requirements

  • 5+ years in technology marketing
  • Experience selling into executives at regional and community banks
  • Familiarity with statistical and mathematical testing concepts
  • Proficiency with analytical tools like Excel, R, SQL.
  • Track record of developing and managing multi-channel marketing campaigns
  • Exceptional written and oral presentation skills

Conversion strategy lead

About the role

The conversion strategy lead will create a holistic strategy across all of Upstart’s acquisition channels. The lead will work horizontally across the Growth team to choreograph a highly customized, effective experience for every user.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with CEO, CFO, Head of Growth, and co-founders to set and implement Upstart’s user conversion strategy
  • Set annual, quarterly, and monthly targets and project roadmaps 
  • Lead project development of Upstart’s post-visit customer experience across offline and online channels
  • Leverage Upstart's multi-touch attribution model to design acquisition and lifecycle strategies across multiple media and user segments
  • Build systems that will allow for multivariate user testing at large scale
  • Leverage customer data and stories to establish a company-wide understanding of the customer journey and brand touchpoints; work across the organization to optimize the journey
  • Manage and improve dozens of email streams and creative tests
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Data Science, and Legal to launch new product features and campaigns

Requirements

  • Passion for making finance human and balancing big data with qualitative research
  • Empathy and curiosity about people
  • 4+ years of experience in an entrepreneurial role and/or highly quantitative business strategy and analytics field, such as finance, consulting, or related fields. Marketing experience not required
  • Proficiency with analytical tools like R, SQL (or a willingness to learn!)

About the role 

Upstart is looking for a Graphic Designer to boldly challenge the status quo of marketing and product design in Fintech. We want someone who can push the boundaries of two-dimensional advertising strategies to design a deeply immersive product experience. As an early member to our internal creative team, you will have a significant impact on Upstart’s brand and visual identity.

Responsibilities

  • Build entire visual campaigns from start to finish and implement across all acquisition channels (impacting millions of people each month across digital and physical platforms)
  • Develop longer-term creative strategy for Upstart’s marketing communications
  • Build an extensive repertoire of creative assets for Facebook, Instagram, Email, etc
  • Push the boundaries of advertising and what it means for a company to express itself visually
  • Help shape the internal design process
  • Incorporate UI/UX best practices in website design and layout, and adapt designs for mobile formats and responsive design
  • Work cross-functionally with developers, designers, and the Growth team

Requirements

  • 1+ year of experience (in-house or agency)

About the role

We’re looking for a Direct Mail Analyst to help manage and grow our largest customer acquisition channel. This is a high impact and high visibility role. You will be responsible for:

  • Owning key metrics to ensure that our Direct Mail program scales quickly and profitably
  • Driving strategy and scoping opportunities for scale
  • Executing tests to improve the performance of our mail marketing, including creative, material, data, speed and timing
  • Working cross-functionally with data science, engineering, legal and compliance teams to push new initiatives forward

About the role

It’s a fascinating time to be working in growth. The sheer amount of data available has made this field incredibly quantitative and academic. Our Growth team not only aspires to help expand Upstart’s reach to the millions of borrowers without access to affordable credit, but we’re also very energized by the prospect of breaking ground in our field. How do we create the next A/B testing framework?

This role will tackle some of the hardest questions facing advertisers and user acquisition teams today, such as:

  • Using 160-200 million rows of data with cookie-level information about every interaction a user has with Upstart, how do you estimate the impact of each online and offline impression a person receives on the individual’s ultimate conversion?
  • How do you model and anticipate seasonal trends in a business growing and changing dramatically every year?
  • How do you incorporate future spend decisions as you advise the team on the best way to allocate and budget more than $50 million in annual spend across online, offline acquisition channels this month?
  • To Bayesian or to frequentist? That is the question.
  • Which dimensions are most valuable in a clustering analysis that will help channel owners design creative and targeting strategies?
  • How do you build an infrastructure that will allow for regular and efficient testing of new, alternative datasets?

Requirements

  • Comfort working as a “full-stack” growth analyst to scope projects, write and functionalize code, run tests, surface and visualize results, monitor outcomes
  • Ability to contextualize complex model outputs into actionable business decisions and experiments
  • Strong R, SQL and/or Python abilities
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics
  • 4+ years of experience in related technical field
