Digital Strategy Manager

Upstart is looking for an enthusiastic self-starter who wants to design strategic modeling, testing, and creative campaigns to efficiently deploy a multi-million dollar budget across digital channels.

We'd like you to help us answer questions like:

  • What is the true cost of acquisition on Facebook, given that only certain types of conversions are tracked? How do you design an experiment to prove this?
  • If someone sees an ad but doesn’t interact with it at all, are they more or less likely to respond to a second ad? Why?
  • How do you test or measure the impact of “brand” or company awareness?
  • What kinds of data could proxy whether someone qualifies for credit or not?
  • How do you design advertising as an immersive product and experience, rather than just a 2-dimensional ad?

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a multi-million dollar advertising budget across Facebook, Google, and other paid digital channels
  • Design experiments to test new audiences, pricing strategies, tools, and creatives to constantly improve our marketing strategy and identify and adapt to new opportunities
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, product, legal, and data science teams. Manage projects and product launches across third parties including platform partners (Facebook, Google), data providers (credit bureaus), etc.
  • Present insights directly to Upstart’s executive team and other high-profile stakeholders

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in an entrepreneurial role and/or highly quantitative business strategy and analytics field, such as finance, consulting, or related fields. Marketing experience not required.
  • Familiarity with statistical and mathematical testing concepts
  • Proficiency with analytical tools like Excel, R, SQL. Comfort with data visualization and programming fundamentals
  • Highly driven and results-oriented work ethic

Engagement Marketing Manager

Upstart is looking for someone who loves data and storytelling to think through our users’ post-visit experiences.

We'd like you to help us become the leader in messaging customized to users’ specific needs and preferences, across all of our communication channels. You will use troves of data to plot user journeys and understand which users want an appeal to emotion vs. factual value propositions, etc. You will work with all other acquisition channel owners to craft ads and other campaigns to test your hypotheses. As one of the first people at the company to own this strategy, you will have significant autonomy.

Responsibilities:

  • Craft Upstart’s post-visit experience and strategy across offline and online channels, product
  • Improve funnel conversion rates
  • Build systems that will allow for testing at large scale (e.g. programmatic landing pages)
  • Manage and improve dozens of email streams and creative tests
  • Work cross-functionally with all other teams at Upstart to launch new product features and campaigns

Requirements:

  • Passion for making finance human and balancing data with qualitative research
  • Empathy and curiosity about people
  • 3+ years of experience in an entrepreneurial role and/or highly quantitative business strategy and analytics field, such as finance, consulting, or related fields. Marketing experience not required.

Graphic Designer

Upstart is looking for a graphic designer to boldly challenge the status quo of marketing and product design in Fintech. We want someone who can push the boundaries of two-dimensional advertising strategies to design a deeply immersive product experience. As an early member to our internal creative team, you will have a significant impact on Upstart’s brand and visual identity.

Responsibilities:

  • Build entire visual campaigns from start to finish and implement across all acquisition channels (impacting millions of people each month across digital and physical platforms)
  • Develop longer-term creative strategy for Upstart’s marketing communications
  • Build an extensive repertoire of creative assets for Facebook, Instagram, Email, etc
  • Push the boundaries of advertising and what it means for a company to express itself visually
  • Help shape the internal design process
  • Incorporate UI/UX best practices in website design and layout, and adapt designs for mobile formats and responsive design
  • Work cross-functionally with developers, designers, and the Growth team

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience (in-house or agency)
  • Expert in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Experience with Keynote and PowerPoint
  • Contemporary aesthetic
  • Ability to present and critique designs clearly
  • Strong time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
